ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY TO THIS DIVISION

There will be NO Pre-registration.  The exhibitor must register at the fairgrounds on validation day, June 4, 2011.  The exhibitor must pay his or her entry fee ($20.00) to the Chairperson at time rabbits are registered.  We will need telephone numbers and directions to rabbit’s location.

 

ANY EXHIBITOR NOT REGISTERED AND ENTRY NOT PAID WILL BE INELIGIBLE TO SHOW

 

1. All entries must be bona-fide property of the exhibitor.

2. Members of the Junior Exhibitor Group may show rabbits

3. Only meat pens will be shown.  A pen shall consist of:

       a. Three (3) rabbits, either sex.

       b. Rabbits must weigh 3 ½ to 5 pounds each.

       c.  Rabbits cannot be born before July 2, 2011 or after July 16, 2011. 

       d. The pen cannot exceed 15 pounds

4. Exhibitor must own the doe and be tending to it at the time the litter kindles and when tattooed.   If the doe does not kindle on      time, the exhibitor cannot buy another doe with babies.


5. Exhibitor must call Chairperson by July 18th if rabbits born are to be tattooed.

6. The committee can visit the exhibitor’s residence anytime during the feeding period.

7. Tag in date for rabbits will be Sunday, August 28th beginning at 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at Stacey Ferguson’s house next to the           Fairgrounds in Coldspring.

8. Market rabbit disqualification: Any rabbit showing signs of external parasites or symptoms of. Any disease will not be allowed to      enter the show.  This will include ear canker, sore hocks, wolf or buck-teeth or broken teeth.  Entry fees on such specimens will      be forfeited.

9. Exhibitor is allowed to show only one (1) pen of rabbits.  All prizes will be paid to the Exhibitor entering the rabbits.

10. Only exhibitor and persons on the rabbit committee will be allowed at the scales during weigh-in.

11. All entries will be expected to be in their assigned pens at all times during the show except when being judged.

12. All pens except Grand and Reserve may be taken home after show.

13. Exhibitors wishing not to sale his or her pen of rabbits must notify the Rabbit Chairperson by Friday September 30, 2011 by 2        p.m.

14. Exhibitors are responsible for disposing of the rabbits according to the buyer’s wishes.  This must be taken care of within seven        (7) days of the sale or the rabbit committee should be advised on the issue.

ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY TO THIS DIVISION

 

1. Members of the Junior Exhibitor Group may show a poultry project.

2. Each pen will consist of three (3) birds.

3. All broilers will be ordered at the same time and will be commercial run pullets.  All orders will be placed with the Poultry     Chairperson at validation.  All birds must be paid for by validation date.  NO LATE ORDERS.

4. An entry fee will be collected the same time that the birds are paid for.


5. Each exhibitor must purchase a minimum of 25 birds.  Additional birds must be purchased in  multiples of twenty-five (25).

6. The exhibitor or representative will be responsible for listing the band number of the chicks at time of delivery.  This list will then      be turned over to the Chairperson.

7. At time of check-in for show, band numbers will be checked against exhibitor’s assigned list.  All birds must have wing bands.

8. Any substitution of birds must be done before check-in.

9. Entire pens may be sifted if any bird does not appear healthy, or if there are wide variations in Weight’s of the birds, or if they do     not make weight limit.  Birds may be weighed at judge’s discretion.

10. Any bird found with breast blisters and bruises will be disqualified.

11. All alternate birds and/or boxes/cage MUST be removed from the show arena IMMEDIATELY after showing.

12. All pens except Grand & Reserve may be taken home after show.

ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY TO THIS DIVISION

 

1. The junior lamb division exhibitors must be a member of the Junior Exhibitor Group.

2. The senior lamb division exhibitors must be a 4-H or FFA member.

3. In accordance with Texas Animal Health commission all sheep will be required to have a scrapies ear tag from their     breeder before validation on June 4th.  If you have further questions please contact the Texas Animal Health Commission     at 866-873-2824.  

4. All lambs must be ear tagged at the San Jacinto County fairgrounds at validation time.


5. An exhibitor may have as many lambs tagged as desired, but will be eligible to show and sale only one lamb.  Exhibitors must     show the lamb that has been tagged, providing the tag number is the assigned number to that exhibitor.

6. Lambs must have their milk teeth, not weigh less than 80 pounds, and must be slick sheared at the time of show.

7. No contestant will be allowed assistance from anyone that is not authorized to be in the Show- ring during the judging.      Contestants will be required to maintain control of their lamb at all times while judging is taking place.

8. A Grand and Reserve Champion Lamb winner will be selected from the Junior Division.

9. A Grand and Reserve Champion Lamb winner will be selected from the Senior Division.

10. Showmanship will have three age divisions:

              Junior Showmanship-                      SJC Jr Exhibitors

              Intermediate Showmanship-          4-H Eligible – 13 yrs old

              Senior Showmanship-                     14 years old to 19 years old

1. A member of the Junior Exhibitor Group may show a goat.

2. Market goats can be any breed or cross breed wether or female goat.  Females must not be bred.

5. The market goat must not weigh less than 60 pounds or more than 125 pounds at check-in on the night of the show.  A five (5)      pound tolerance will be allowed.  (Max. or Min.)

6. Market goats must be clipped before check-in.  Hair should be no longer than 3/8 inch.  Hair is required to be clipped to the knees     and hocks.  A full clip is acceptable.

7. Goats must be dehorned or horns must be tipped.  Ends of tipped horns must not be less then the diameter of a dime at the time      of check-in on show day.

8. Goats must have milk teeth at validation and show.

9. There will be a Jr. and Sr. Goat show division.

10. Showmanship will have three age divisions:

              Junior Showmanship-                      SJC Jr Exhibitors

              Intermediate Showmanship-          4-H Eligible – 13 yrs old

ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY TO THIS DIVISION

 

1. Members of the Junior Exhibitor Group may show a swine project.

2. All market swine will be ear tagged by 10 a.m. on validation day.

3. At validation, all exhibitors will give their swine a preliminary breed classification.

4. Weigh-in for market swine will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday September 26th of the Fair.  No Tuesday check-in.  The     market swine show will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 28th of the Fair.


5. Swine must weigh between 220 and 280 pounds.  Any hog not weighing in this range will Be sifted.

6. Swine will be shown using the following four (4) breed format:

                  Hampshire        Crossbred

                  Yorkshire          AOB

 
7. Breeds may be divided into weight classes, if numbers dictate. They must have six in a breed to establish a breed.

8. The judge has the option to reclassify swine entering the ring into crossbred class.  The judges decision will be final.

9. No feral swine allowed.

10. Pigs must stay penned during Lamb & Goat shows, and no clipping will be allowed during these shows.

 
11. Pigs must be castrated by August 1, 2011.

12. All market swine will be ear notched at validation.

 

13. Showmanship will have three age divisions:

              Junior Showmanship-                      SJC Jr Exhibitors

              Intermediate Showmanship-          4-H Eligible – 13 yrs old

ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY TO THIS DIVISION

 

1. All steers must be officially weighed, validated, and tagged with a San Jacinto County ear tag on validation day. May 1, 2011 from     3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.


2. Steers must weigh a minimum of 600 pounds at validation.

3. Steers must be dehorned and castrated at the time of validation.

4. All steers must be halter broken to show


5. Steers must be sheared to 1/4 inch before the official weigh-in from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Wednesday of the Fair. September 28,     2011.

6. The Steer show will follow the Replacement Heifer show on Friday of the Fair.

 
7. Steers must gain 2 pounds per day from validation until the official weigh-in-day.

8. The first place steer in each class will compete for Grand Champion with the second place steer in that class coming in to compete      for Reserve Champion.

9. Judge will set the sale order.

10. A RATE OF GAIN trophy will be presented to the exhibitor with the best gaining steer.

 
11. No painting, coloring, or altering the natural color of the animal.

12. Showmanship will have two age divisions:

              Junior Showmanship-                     4-H Eligible – 13 yrs old

ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY TO THIS DIVISION

 

1. All heifers are to be calf-hood vaccinated for Brucellosis by validation.  Ears will be checked for tattoo and provide tag # for     recording at validation.


2. Heifers will be tagged in on or by validation day (Sunday, May 1, 2011 – 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm) and must be able to be led to chute.

3. All replacement heifers must check in Wednesday of the Fair between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.  The Replacement Heifer show will follow     the Market Steer show on Friday of the Fair.

4. Heifers should be weaned prior to show date.


5. All heifers must be halter broke to show.

6. Heifers must be born between December 1, 2009 and February 1, 2011.  These heifers will be divided into age classes according     to the number of entries in the show at the discretion of the committee.

 
7. GROOMING RULE- Heifers should be shown with halter and proper grooming paraphernalia. Clipping of the body hair is allowed.      NO GROOMING AIDS EXCEPT SOAP AND WATER MAY BE USED ON SHOW DAY.  Any heifer found with grooming aids applied to the     hair or body in any manner will be disqualified or told to re-bathe at the discretion of the heifer chairperson.  All qualifying heifers     will then show at regular show time. (Example: no tail balls, no hoof paint, no adhesives, no show sheens, no shaving cream, etc.)

 

8. Showmanship will have two age divisions:

              Junior Showmanship-                     4-H Eligible – 13 yrs old

ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY TO THIS DIVISION

 

1. All heifers must be calf-hood vaccinated by validation unless age is inappropriate.

2. All participants must enter the number of breeding heifers they intend to show and pay the required entry  fee of $20 per head on     validation date of May 1, 2011 at SJC Fairgrounds from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. 

3. All breeding heifers must be born after November 1, 2009.

4. No heifer exhibited in the Commercial Heifer Show will be allowed to compete in the Breeding Heifer Show and vice versa.


5. No Breeding Heifers will be sold at the livestock auction.

6. Only San Jacinto County 4-H & FFA members can show in the Breeding Heifer Show.

 
7. All breeding heifers must check-in Wednesday September 28th with respective committee chairman Between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

8. The breeding heifer show will begin at 9:00 am on Friday September 30, 2011.

9. All Breeding Heifers must be halter broken to show.

10. Exhibitors may show more than one heifer in the Breeding Heifer show.  If an exhibitor has Two or more heifers in one class,        another eligible 4-H or FFA exhibitor may exhibit the heifer For that particular exhibitor.

 
11. Breeding heifers will be divided into classes according to the number of heifers entered in the show at the discretion of the        committee.  All ages are as of the day of the show.

12. Heifers may be shown with grooming aides.

 

13. Breeding heifers can be purchased anywhere.

 

14. The original registration papers must be in the exhibitors name within their respective breed association by August 1, 2011. You        will be required to present your original registration papers in the exhibitors name at time of check in on Wednesday September        29, 2011. 

 

15. Showmanship will have two age divisions:

              Junior Showmanship-                     4-H Eligible – 13 yrs old
