Attention San Jacinto County Fair Association Junior Exhibitors
The 2011 San Jacinto County Livestock Show, Fair and Rodeo is just around the corner! Youth of all ages are learning skills that will be a lifelong benefit through agricultural based projects. The process of maintaining a successful project requires an enormous amount of responsibility on behalf of the exhibitor and the adults that support them.
To celebrate the continued interest and importance of agriculture in our community the San Jacinto County Fair Association allows for a group of participants called Junior Exhibitors. This group promotes an early interest in agriculture based projects. With the support of group leaders and parents the Jr. Exhibitor group is showing great promise for the future of our local show.
To meet the requirements and be able to participate in the livestock show as a San Jacinto County Jr. Exhibitor one must be 5 to 8 years of age and not yet in the third grade, reside in San Jacinto County, and have at least five learning experiences documented by their Jr. Exhibitor group representative. Jr. Exhibitors may participate in the Educational Barn and show all species except cattle. Please take a minute to view the General Rules and the specific species rules by CLICKING HERE
There are two Jr. Exhibitor Groups to serve your needs. Participants residing in the Shepherd area may contact Amanda at 281-761-9824 and those residing in the Coldspring area may contact Stacey at 979-255-3590. Please feel free to contact these leaders for any questions or concerns you may have about the San Jacinto County Junior Exhibitor Groups and requirements thereof.
Though the approval of learning experiences lies with the local Jr. Exhibitor leader, the following dates are potential learning experiences for anyone interested in furthering their agriculture education and interest. Jr. Exhibitors are required to have five documented experiences to be qualified to show in the 2011 SJC Fair and Rodeo Livestock Show.
July 14: 4-H Livestock workshop, 7pm, at fairgrounds, rsvp to extension office
