General Rules

1.   All events have a 120 second time limit.

2.   Only 4 loops allowed in roping events.

3.   Time starts when you cross the line.

4.   Time stops when field judge drops the flag.

5.   Any extra cattle that cross the line are a 10 second penalty each.

6.   Any cattle that re-cross are a 20 second penalty.

7.   Rope must be clear of your saddle before you dismount.

8.   Judges will have the authority to give a NO time for intentional abuse of livestock. The judge’s decision is final.

9.   No harassment of the judges will be tolerated. The result will be disqualification of the team involved.

10. Must be at least 12 years old to participate (with a minors released signed by parents).

 

Pasture Roping

1.   Will run one (1) team at a time. Consists of a four-person team, all four member can rope.

2.   Cattle are held behind a line at the end of the arena. Official will announce cattle number when team is half down the arena.

3.   The roper approaches the line on horseback, and when he crosses the line judge will drop flag and the time begins.

4.   One member will be allowed across the line to cut and sort, the other three members must stay behind line until calf has been cut        from herd.

5.   Cattle must be headed first and then heeled. Four loops maximum.

6.   Legal head catch, slick horn, half head, or neck. 1 heel is a 5 second penalty.

7.   Calf must be stretched tight then ropes are to be removed. Judge will drop flag to end time as soon as the ropes are off.

 

Muggin'

1.   Cowboys approach the start line where a herd of numbered yearlings are held. One team member is assigned the task of roping,       the rest are responsible for mugging, tying, and holding the herd. This event has a 2-minute time limit.

2.   After riders have reached the start line, the starting flag will be dropped and a pre-drawn number will be called. The assigned calf       must be cut from the herd and driven across the start line. The calf must then be roped Legal head catch, (limit of four thrown       loops), flanked to the ground, and three legs must be securely tied. Time stops when the team has finished tying the three legs,       ropes are clear of cattle and is no longer touching the calf. The Yearling must then stay tied for 6 seconds, or the team will receive       a no-time.

3.   Teams are ranked by best time. Time starts when the number is called and a team member crosses the line.

4.   Only one team member may cross the line and enter the herd. They must not enter the herd in a way that results in scattering       the herd. If the herd is scattered, the team can either be penalized 20 seconds or disqualified, per the discretion of the judge.

5.   Any animal that takes to the ground upon being roped must be given the opportunity to stand up before being tied for the run to       qualify as a result.

6.   Ropers may dismount their horse, but the rope must come down with them. Horses are allowed to cross back over the line       and/or move anywhere in the arena once the mugging has begun.

7.  Once the team has stepped back, raised their hands, and called for a time, no team member may touch the cow until the judge      gives a signal for a no-time or a successful run.

8.  Any team that interferes with the cow during the 6 second timing may receive a no time at the discretion of the judges.

 

Team Penning

1.   Cattle will be number coded, three head per team, in a herd at one end of the arena.

2.   Each team will cut their three head and pen them at the other end of the arena. Only the designated cutter may be in the herd.       Other team members may cross the line t o help cut off unwanted cattle.

3.   Once your three cattle are clean cut across the line and all other cattle are back across the line, all 4 team members can attempt        to pen the cattle.

4.   The gate to pen the cattle into will be open on the herd side of the pen.

5.   Time will start as the cutter crosses the designated line and will end as the last animal is penned and time is called.

6.   Judges may assess a 15 second penalty for rule infractions.

 

Wild Cow Milking

1.   In this event the cow must be roped and milk must be presented to the judge for a time to be awarded. The one cow must be       driven across the start line before it can be roped.

2.   The rules are very simple we must keep the safety of the livestock in mind. Use your best judgment and be prepared for a       challenge. You will be allowed two minutes to complete this event. You will also only be allowed four loops to complete your       catching of the cow. Whether it is one person or four persons roping.

3.   Cows will be numbered. Cow must be roped across the start line, no roping behind the start line. The cow must be standing        during the milking. The ropes must be removed before time is called.

4.   Colored tape will be used on the tale of the cows if they are dry.
