28th Annual San Jacinto County Fair and Rodeo 2020
Little King and Queen Contest
Sponsored by Health Science Club 4-H Club Date: Saturday, September 19, 2020
Time: Registration 10 am, Contest at 11 am
Place: San Jacinto County Fairgrounds, Coldspring
Attire: Western Wear Recommended Age Categories (As of 9/21/20)
Under 1 Year 1 Year Old 2 Year Old 3 Year Old 4 Year Old

$20.00 ENTRY FEE BABY CONTEST RULES

  1. Registration and photos will begin at Noon on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Contest will begin at 1pm.
  2. Entry fee of $20.00 will be due at time of registration.
  3. Contestants will be judged on personality, attire and presentation.
  4. Presentation should be introduction to judges. (No talent competition) Suggested dress is western, but anything publicly acceptable will be suitable.
  5. 1st Place boy and girl will be selected from each age category. The King and Queen will be selected from first place winners of each category.
  6. Each contestant will receive a ribbon as well as a photo.
  7. Winner of each category (one boy & one girl) will receive trophies. King and Queen will receive a crown, trophies and a photograph.
  8. JUDGES DECISION WILL BE FINAL.

KIDS DUMMY ROPING CONTEST- Canceled- Please see notice on Home page.


  • A buckle will be given to the 1st and 2nd place winners in each age group!
  • Books open before the rodeo perfomance at 5:30pm (call in entries welcome but not required)
  • Roping starts at 6:30pm Sharp!
  • Cost is $20 per entry, for 5 loops. Placing will be on a point system.
There will be three age groups: Pee Wee 6 and under Junior 7-9 years of age Senior 10-13 years of age Headers only! For more information contact Kristina at 281-686-9655 (text preferred for call ins)

2020 Mutton Bustin' Rules

  1. Registration will be from 5:30 to 6:15pm each night of the CPRA rodeo, September 24, 25, & 26, 2020 at the side gate next to the announcer’s box. Entries are first come first served; no pre-registration accepted.
  2. A $20 entry fee will be collected at time of registration.
  3. A parent or guardian must complete and sign a release form at registration and acknowledge receipt of rules provided by SJC Fair Association.
  4. Contestant must wear jeans and boots. A long sleeve western shirt is encouraged.
  5. Child must weigh NO MORE than 50 pounds completely dressed. Contestants will be weighed in at time of registration. Contestants weighing 51 pounds or more, completely dressed, will forfeit eligibility to enter the Mutton busting contest.
  6. Contestants must not be older than 8 or younger than 3 to compete.
  7. Forty (40) contestants will be accepted each night in a preliminary performance of Mutton Busting to begin at 6:30pm prior to the regular rodeo performance. The top 10 scoring contestants will then be asked to compete in the regular CPRA rodeo performance in a championship mutton busting round where the top two scores will be awarded buckles.
  8. Contestants will be allowed to sign up for ONE performance only UNLESS the 40 spots are not filled for that performance at close of sign-ups (6:15pm). Contestants may sign up for one ride only each performance.
  9. Protective gear consisting of a vest and helmet will be provided by the San Jacinto county Fair Association. NO ROPES OR SPURS ALLOWED.
  10. Contestants may be accompanied by one (1) parent for line up at center gate. No parents will be allowed in the arena.
  11. An announcement will be made each night by the announcer when the child and one (1) parent will be allowed to come down to the arena for preparation of the preliminary round AND again for those qualifying for the Championship Round during the regular rodeo performance.
  12. Rodeo clown will judge and score each contestant’s ride. JUDGE’S DECISION WILL BE FINAL.

  1. Registration will be from 5:30-6:15pm each night of the CPRA Rodeo September 24, 25, and 26, 2020 at the side arena gate next to the announcer’s box along with the Mutton Busting sign ups.
  2. A parent or guardian must complete and sign a release and acknowledgement of rules provided by the SJC Fair Association.
  3. Participants must be 9-13 years of age and may include those not eligible for mutton bustin.
  4. No limit to the number of participants each night.
  5. Three (3) calves will be released with a ribbon attached for cash prizes during the regular rodeo performance.
